Best Time To Visit Fiji
Month By Month Overview
TLDR: If you have flexible travel dates, and you priority is cheaper airfares with less crowds and the best weather, then go late Oct or early Nov. If you want to get the best accommodation package deals, then Feb is a good month for those, It's the slow time for Fiji tourism and many places will run specials in Feb-March.
I have been to Fiji at all times of the year. And while it might be true to say "Any time in Fiji is a good time", there are a few months I would pick over others. I prefer to avoid the first 3 months of the year. Very hot and humid, with plenty of rain. And that is cyclone season too.
- January: Probably the hottest steamiest month of the year, and right in the middle of cyclone season. Prices are high, especially at the start of the month.
- February: The families have gone home to get kids to school, and this is often a slow month for Fiji tourism. It's still very hot and humid, and still rainy season. You can find some good accommodation specials this month.
- March: Much the same as Feb. Still hot, and still some good specials to be had. Shoulder season
- April: Starting to cool down a bit now, although Fiji is never really cold, even in mid winter.
- May:
- June: I spent June and July in Fiji in 2019, and it was perfect weather. 30c most days, cool enough at nights to sleep but warm enough that didn't need a jersey. And every day sunny and cloudless. Just lovely.
- July: The coldest month of the year, although that is relative... can you call days of 28c "cold"? Nights can be a little chilly, and Nadi might get down to an overnight low of 16c which is cool enough for me!
- August: Warming up now, still dry clear conditions.
- September:
- October: Start of the month is school holiday time in Aust/NZ so it can get a bit crowded, and prices tend to be a bit higher because of that. The last week or so of this month and first few weeks of Nov are probably my most preffered times to visit Fiji. Weather is hot, but it's not yet rainy season. The mangos are ripe and you can buy them for next to nothing at roadside stalls. Prices have not yet increased ahead of the Christmas/NY influx of tourists.
- November: See comments above for October.
- December: You tend to get a lot of "schoolies" over during Dec. For those of you that want to party with the younger crowd, it's a great time to be here. For older folk that want a nice quiet beach and an early night, not so much! of course it all depends on where you go for your holiday. There are still loads of places that will be quiet and relaxed, even in Dec.
